Virtual MOCA: Past, Present, & Future

Virtual

Look back and reflect on MOCA’s history, past exhibitions, initiatives, programs, and permanent collection, and see how all of these efforts relate to our present offerings and future initiatives. This series is led by MOCA's team of curators.

For this week’s program, MOCA curators focus on the "future" by sharing three recent acquisitions to MOCA's permanent collection. Ranging in medium and theme, the three works highlighted each explore technologies such as artificial intelligence, bio-engineering, and 3-D computer animation. These works are examples of how artists are using these new tools to create art that redefines what constitutes a work of art in the 21st century.

The artists and artworks highlighted are:
Sondra Perry, Graft and Ash for a Three Monitor Workstation, 2016
Anicka Yi, Le Pain Symbiotique, 2014
Ian Cheng, BOB (Bag of Beliefs), 2018-2019
