Self-governed and operated on a shoestring budget, KCHUNG Radio was formed in 2011 as an open forum of artists, musicians, writers, and philosophers. Broadcasting live on 1630 AM from a studio-in-the-sky above a pho restaurant in Los Angeles’ Chinatown, KCHUNG Radio stands apart from other local LA-based stations in its programmatically evolving nature: currently broadcasting over 40 hours weekly of original & uncensored content. With the intention to platform traditionally underrepresented voices, there are talk shows, art reviews, interviews with psychics, scientists, plant life, and ghosts, live music, dressing room gossip, surrealist meditation lessons, advice panels, and unscripted gestures of an economic or performative nature. Functioning as a framework for the expression of local artists as individual contributors, the station is an open portal, accessible to any and all interested parties. It celebrates and promotes the efforts of the dedicated amateur while remaining an autonomous entity for collective expression.

BLACKMUSEUMIST has been curating, collecting & sharing music for nearly two decades. The native Angeleno continuously inspires those who encounter his immaculate sonic curations. His DJ style is avant garde which encompasses a range of sound including classic hip hop, spiritual jazz, electronica, deep house, gospel and more. He has a passion for occupying the space in between by remaining open for discovery and creating lasting vibrational exchanges through sound and environment. He is currently a resident DJ at Soho House in Los Angeles where he creates a unique environment called Vinyl House. Some have likened his activation to a modern day Warhol Factory due to the hip atmosphere that attracts artists and celebrities.

BLACKMUSEUMIST is also a DJ on KCHUNG Radio where he host a monthly show called “MUSEUMIST Radio” on the first Wednesday of each month at 11am. BLACKMUSEUMIST. Uniting people through music and making the crowd react in movement has been and will forever be motivation for his art practice.

Angel-a is a South American DJ based in LA who is inspired by punk, dance and experimental music from all over the world. Starting off in the queer dance scene in Chicago, she was known to DJ local hardcore punk shows in the midwest. She now brings this all embracing mix of sounds back to LA via her radio show and local venues.

Born to Filipino and Mexican parents and raised in Highland Park where they still reside, zzzahara is the moniker of queer songwriter and guitarist Zahara Jaime. Growing up in Los Angeles, they felt disconnected from Southern California’s predominantly straight white male rock scene and discovered making music as a way to process the experience of living in an ever-gentrifying city.

They became the touring guitarist for Eyedress aka Idris Vicuña in 2018, which spawned the collaborative duo The Simps, who released their Siblings LP earlier this year. Following their solo debut EP Simp.Wave in 2021, zzzahara signed to Lex Records and put the finishing touches on their forthcoming debut album, a collection of songs about queerness, love, lust, absurdism and feeling lost that trace their stylistic and emotional evolution from childhood through present day.
