Peter Shire and Anna Katz in Conversation

A key figure in Southern California’s postwar “post-pottery” ceramics movement, Peter Shire rose to prominence as a member of the Milan-based design collective Memphis and is perhaps best known for his signature brightly colored, splatter-painted mugs and handcrafted earthenware. Shire and MOCA Assistant Curator Anna Katz will discuss the artist’s practice on the occasion of Peter Shire: Naked Is the Best Disguise, the first Los Angeles museum exhibition to survey Shire’s work. This event is supported in part by the City of West Hollywood through WeHo Arts.
