MOCA x Sam Borkson & Arturo Sandoval - FriendsWithYou:
Optimal Vibration Alignment

Join MOCA and Sam Borkson & Arturo Sandoval of FriendsWithYou for the launch of Friend, a new fashion brand and conceptual artwork by FriendsWithYou, created with the sole purpose of distinguishing a good human or friend. The idea is meant to build community by bringing people together with a new friend amulet that will bring luck and connection.

The afternoon also features the premiere of Optimal Vibration Alignment, an exclusive healing performance using vibrational frequencies composed by James Fauntleroy on the occasion of the launch of Friend.

Performances of Optimal Vibration Alignment will take place in the Ahmanson Auditorium at MOCA Grand Avenue and capacity is limited. Time-entry tickets must be reserved in advance. Ridesharing encouraged.

Friend will be available in-person at the MOCA Store.

FriendsWithYou is the collaborative art project of Los Angeles based artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III, working collectively since 2002 to create modern modes of spirituality with the mission of having a positive impact on our world. Their artwork has been materialized as experiences, immersive installations, sculptures, paintings, animation, and live performances. Throughout the course of their career, they have exhibited their artworks in museums and public venues worldwide including being the featured artists in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2018. In 2022, the City of Miami Beach commissioned "Starchild", a monumental steel sculpture installed at W 41st and Pine Tree Drive, which has since been acquired by the city as a permanent artwork.

4x Grammy Winner James Fauntleroy is perhaps best known for co-writing Bruno Mars' Grammy-winning album 24K Magic, including 10x Platinum That’s What I Like, 9 Chris Brown songs, 25 Justin Timberlake songs, 12 Rihanna songs, 5 Beyonce songs + "On The Run" with Jay-Z and featuring on songs with Drake, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Nas, Travis Scott, ASAP Rocky and more.

This program is organized by Justen Leroy, Director of Public Programs and Community Outreach, and Alitzah Oros, Public Programming Associate.
