MOCA Store Presents
Little Ugly
Performative Lecture and Plushie Edition with Ann Hirsch and Maya Man

MOCA Store

Join the MOCA Store for an exciting evening celebrating Los Angeles–based artists Ann Hirsch and Maya Man’s new project, Little Darlings. The artists behind the cult NFT project Ugly Bitches, Hirsch and Man are taking the collection from the screen to the stage. In a live lecture performance, the artists will touch on themes of gender, self-optimization, and social media. This event will include the launch of the artists’ “Little Ugly”' plushie creature, a physical stuffed toy that represents the spirit of the Ugly Bitches collection.

The artists will also debut their plans for the Ugly Bitches sequel, Little Darlings. The event will open with remarks by Rhizome's Executive Director Michael Connor contextualizing the work. Limited-edition physical “Little Ugly'' plushies will be available for sale.

Ann Hirsch is an artist and culture jammer who went viral on YouTube in 2008, infiltrated trashy VH1 reality television in 2010, and has had her work shown at The New Museum, MIT, Whitechapel Gallery, The Stedelijk Museum, the International Center of Photography, and more.

Maya Man is an artist focused on contemporary identity culture on the internet. Her work examines dominant narratives around femininity, authenticity, and the performance of self online. She is the creator of the browser extension Glance Back and the Art Blocks curated collection FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT. She has exhibited internationally at bitforms, NYC; SOOT, Tokyo; Verse, London; Power Station of Art, Shanghai; and Feral File, online. Her work has been featured in Art in America, Forbes, Vogue, Zora Zine, Dirt, Various Artists, and more.
