Elusive Paradise: Los Angeles Art from the Permanent Collection

An attempt to both broadly suggest a history of important work made in or about Los Angeles and to locate the work of a younger generation of artists within this trajectory through works from MOCA'scollection. The contents, which changed several times during the run, include paintings, sculptures, photographs and multi-media works by artists including John Altoon, John Baldessari, Karl Benjamin, Wallace Berman, Chris Burden, Richard Diebenkorn, Sam Francis, Robert Irwin, Mike Kelley, Toba Khedoori, John McLaughlin, Ed Moses, Catherine Opie, Lari Pittman, Nancy Rubins, Edward Ruscha, Alexis Smith, Frances Stark and Megan Williams, among many others.
