Artists Byron Westbrook and Brice Bischoff unite for an immersive visual and sonic experience!

MOCA Store is pleased to announce an evening to celebrate the recent publication of How Close by Brice Bischoff. Byron Westbrook and Brice Bischoff are joining forces to present a unique collaborative event that seamlessly integrates Bischoff's arresting and ethereal photography from his new monograph with a mesmerizing live score composed and performed by Westbrook. A short talk by Bischoff and Westbrook and a book signing will follow.

Westbrook, a highly acclaimed sound artist known for his innovative approach to composition, will create an original sonic landscape to complement Bischoff's evocative visuals. Westbrook's dynamic and immersive score will enhance the emotional impact, presence, and scale of each photograph, creating a multi-sensory experience that transcends traditional art boundaries.

How Close, Bischoff's debut monograph, showcases his distinctive photographic style, exploring themes of intimacy, vulnerability, and human connection. Through his exploration of light and space, Bischoff invites viewers to contemplate the nuances of time and the complexities of place.

Brice Bischoff is an artist who uses photography to implement strategies of land art, sculpture, and performance. His work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Orange County Museum of Art, and the New Orleans Museum of Art among others. His work has been shown at the MAK Center, Los Angeles, the Orange County Museum of Art, and the Penthouse Art Residency (Harlan Levey Gallery), Brussels. His debut monograph, How Close was published in the Spring of 2023 by (w)hole.

Byron Westbrook is an artist and musician who makes sculptural, immersive electronic compositions within an expansive practice that includes both live performance and installations. His work has been shown at the Walker Art Center, ICA London, MoMA PS1, MaerzMusik, Rewire, and Akousma Festivals among others. He has released recordings with Important Records, Ash International/Touch, Hands in the Dark, Umor Rex, and Root Strata.
