When
October 18 – December 6, 1992

Thirteen of this French artist's seldom-seen "paintings" created by the use of a flamethrower on composition board which explore issues of spectacle, alchemy, performance and, in the mark of fire, the presence of absence.

Focus Series: Yves Klein: The Fire Paintings was part of the museum’s Focus Series (1992–1998), which was dedicated to presentations of distinct bodies of work by artists working in all media and featured a roster of distinguished local and international artists.

Focus Series: Yves Klein: The Fire Paintings was organized by Kerry Brougher, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
