The European Presence in the Permanent Collection

Thirty-two works in MOCA's collection created between 1935 and 1991 represented European artists, including Christian Bolanski, Tony Cragg, Max Ernst, Jean Fautrier, Gunther Forg, Alberto Giacometti, Georg Herold, Anselm Kiefer, Mario Merz, Joan Miró, Piet Mondrian, and Antoni Tàpies. In addition, on view for the first time were two works acquired by MOCA through a cultural exchange program between America and Polish artists that was organized by Pontus Hulten, MOCA's founding director: Tapisserie (1975) by Zbigniew Gostomski and Reconstruction (1982) by Tomasz Osinski.
