This survey from the 1940s to the present included a number of recent works that the museum acquired in 1993. Featured from the Panza Collection were works by Jean Fautrier, Claes Oldenburg, and Mark Rothko. Among the works from the Rita and Taft Schreiber Collection were pieces by Alexander Calder, Alberto Giacometti, Joan Miró, and Jackson Pollock. Three works from Sam Francis's recent gift to the museum were also on view, as well as works from the Barry Lowen Collection including a fluorescent light piece by Dan Flavin, Untitled (1966)by Donald Judd, and Red, Yellow, Blue Painting (1974) by Brice Marden. Additional works by Barbara Kruger, Sherrie Levine, John McLaughlin, Edward Ruscha, and Andy Warhol were included. Among the works acquired by MOCA in 1993 were pieces by Sophie Calle, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Roni Horn, Douglas Huebler, and Richard Prince.
