The exhibition featured forty-five paintings, sculptures, and drawings made between 1912 and 1988 that Beatrice and Philip Gersh had given to MOCA over several years, as well as works they designated to enter MOCA's collection in the future and selections from their private collection. The exhibition featured Jackson Pollock's drip painting Number 3, 1948(1948), the most recent gift to the collection, as well as works by Susan Rothenberg, Alexis Smith, and Tom Wudi. The promised gifts included works by Neil Jenney, Edward Ruscha, David Smith, and Boyd Webb, and from the Gershes personal collection were works by Richard Diebenkorn, Anselm Kiefer, Willem de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, Elizabeth Murray, Gerhard Richter, and Frank Stella among others.
The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue.
