A selective retrospective in memoriam to internationally acclaimed American abstract painter, Sam Francis (1923-1994), included a rare showing of his early paintings from the late 1940s and continuing through the last works completed in 1990, over fifty paintings and thirty works on paper.
Sam Francis: Paintings 1947-1990 traveled to The Menil Collection, Houston; Malmö Konsthall, Sweden; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain; and Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome, Italy.
The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue.
