Sept 13 – Nov 1, 1992
When
September 13 – November 1, 1992

This major retrospective of fifty-eight paintings, spanning the years 1949 to 1985, was the most comprehensive presentation of this renowned artist's works ever assembled. The exhibition traced Diebenkorn's development from his early Abstract Expressionist works, including his Berkeley series, through a period of figurative genre explorations, into the twenty-year-long Ocean Park series.

Richard Diebenkorn was organized by the Whitechapel Art Gallery in association with MOCA and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). MOCA's presentation included eleven works exclusively shown in LA.

Richard Diebenkorn was organized for MOCA by Elizabeth T. Smith, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
