A survey of Piper’s career over twenty-five years, MEDI(t)Ations: Adrian Piper’s Videos, Installations, Performances, and Soundworks 1968–1992 is the first exhibition to bring together nearly all of Piper’s video and audio work. Piper examines racial stereotyping, miscegenation, passing, and a wide range of other issues related to cultural difference and representation. Major works in the show include What It’s Like, What It Is #3 (1991), The Mythic Being (1973), and Funk Lessons (1983).
The exhibition travels to The New Museum, New York; the Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh; The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; and the Weatherspoon Art Gallery, Greensboro.
