Inside Architecture: Selections From the Permanent Collection presents drawings, paintings, and photographs exploring various interior spaces, whether public or private, anonymous or well known. The exhibition includes works by Kirsten Everberg, David Hockney, Candida Höfer, Luisa Lambri, Richard Prince, Paul Sietsema, Thomas Struth, and Paul Winstanley, demonstrating the extent to which the interior has served as a source of inspiration to a range of artists. The presentation also reveals a diversity of approaches to the interior’s representation, from Höfer’s photographs of obsessively repetitive architectural geometries, including Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig IV 1997 and Sächsisches Staatsarchiv Dresden I 1999, to Hockney’s Pembroke Studio Interior (1985), a drawing of colorful furniture and décor askew.
