Bruce Nauman: Drawings 1965-1986 consisted of over seventy-five drawings by the sculptor and performance artist. Nauman’s drawings, like his artistic practice, took many directions and forms. Some large-scale drawings depicted his completed sculptures and installations; others served as schematics for them; others stood comparatively alone and incorporated common motifs of Nauman’s practice, such as hands, clowns, and anti-war themes. Many of the drawings shown were small sketches related to the artist’s performance, video, and sculptural work. The exhibition traveled to twelve cities across Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the US.
