A selection of major abstract paintings and sculpture which provided an historical context for Arshile Gorky's Betrothal paintings and preparatory studies, on view concurrently. The exhibition presented eighteen major abstract paintings and sculptures made between 1947 and 1962, including the work of Pierre Alechinsky, Jean Dubuffet, Alberto Giacometti, Franz Kline, Morris Louis, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Nicolas de Staël, and Mark Tobey.
Abstractions from the Permanent Collection: 1947-1962 was organized by Stacia Payne, Curatorial Assistant, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
Exhibition
