Los Angeles Filmforum at MOCA Presents Tacita Dean

May 12, 2016
When
Thursday, May 12, 2016, 7pm

In person: Tacita DeanOver the past 20 years, Berlin-based artist Tacita Dean has created a large and compelling body of work characterized by observational acuity and an eye for compositions of unexpected significance. Dean’s commitment to celluloid reflects an intimate understanding of the medium and extends to her conviction that her films be seen as 16mm projection. Typically, her films are installed in museum and gallery settings; Los Angeles Filmforum at MOCA is honored to host Dean in this rare cinematic screening of her 16mm films, including the Los Angeles premiere of her newest film,Portraits(2016), a sustained, unadorned series of quietly expectant moments shared with artist David Hockney.
