Hailing from Monterey, Mexico, Mexican Dubwiser is one of Los Angeles’s most promising DJs. He is a former member of the Sistema Local Sound Cru, and is known for putting down the best after-hour events and parties, like DUBWISE SESSIONS & CHIC.le in downtown L.A.—Mexican Dubwiser is redefining nightlife in Los Angeles.
MUSIC: House DJs Michael Stock and Benjamin White of Sunday night’s PART TIME PUNKS at The Echo in Echo Park
Michael Stock and Benjamin White, DJs and hosts of PART TIME PUNKS will spin tracks spanning the history of D.I.Y. (Do-It-Yourself) music rooted in punk, dub, pop, jazz, and ska. These sounds were made cheap, quick, and are rife with contradiction. Their set of scratchy sounds—from the brink of collapse and Xerox music made to last—is inspired by the current exhibition Poetics of the Handmade.
PART TIME PUNKS is a club created and run by DJs Michael Stock and Benjamin White that takes over the noted Echo Park live music venue, The Echo on 1822 Sunset, every Sunday night. The night focuses heavily on obscure and classic music coming out of America, the UK and Europe from 1978 to the present: Punk, Post-punk, Punk-funk, New Wave, No Wave, Indie-Pop, Twee, Grunge, Electro, Minimal-Synth, Shoegaze and Baggy.

Filmed at Tuttle’s home in New Mexico, his studio in Manhattan, and the galleries at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the film offers an intense, intimate portrait of the artist’s working process.

SPOKEN WORD: Richard Garcia
Richard Garcia is the author of four books of poetry, including The Flying Garcias (University of Pittsburgh Press, 1991), Rancho Notorious (BOA Editions, 2001), and The Persistence of Objects (BOA Editions, 2006). He is also the author of a bilingual children’s book, My Aunt Otilia’s Spirits (Children’s Book Press, 1987). His poetry has appeared in many journals, such as Crazyhorse, The Georgia Review, The Cortland Review and Colorado Review. His work is also included in anthologies, among them, The Best of the Prose Poem: An International Journal, Mother Songs, Urban Nature: Poems About Wildlife in the City, Touching the Fire: Fifteen Poets of Today’s Latino Renaissance and The Best American Poetry 2005. He is the recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, several fellowships and grants from the California Arts Council, a Pushcart Prize, the Mudfish Prize from Mudfish Magazine, the Greensboro Award from The Greensboro Review, the Cohen Award from Ploughshares, and the Georgetown Prize from the Georgetown Review. He was poet-in-residence at the Long Beach Museum of Art for three years and at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for 12 years, where he conducted workshops in art and poetry for hospitalized children. Garcia holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Warren Wilson College. Dina Hardy’s work has appeared in numerous journals including Agni, Bellingham Review, Black Warrior Review, Pool, Runes, and Smartish Pace. She was included in Meridian’s Best New Poets 2006 anthology. A recent graduate of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she now lives in Burbank, CA where she is a copywriter for Disney’s websites.
