Oct. 17, 1999-Feb. 13, 2000
-
Barbara Kruger , curated by Ann Goldstein, was the first retrospective exhibition to provide a comprehensive overview of the artist's career. Presenting works from 1978 to the present, the exhibition included photographic prints on paper and vinyl, lenticular images, etched metal plates, audio works, videos, installations, sculpture, sign-painted texts, and billboards. The museum worked closely with the artist in developing this exhibition, which included three new interior billboards designed specifically for the Geffen Contemporary. The exhibition traveled to the Whitney Museum of American Art, Jul. 13-Oct. 22, 2000.
