Cindy Sherman: Retrospective was co-organized by MOCA and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago (MCA). The exhibition was the artist's largest mid-career survey and included 156 works created between the mid-1970s and 1997. A special program of films selected by the artist were presented in the Ahmanson Auditorium to coincide with the exhibition. Co-curated by Elizabeth Smith and Amanda Cruz of the MCA, the show traveled to the MCA, Feb. 28-May 31, 1997; Galerie Rudolfinum, Prague, Jun. 25-Aug. 23, 1998; Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon, Oct. 16, 1998-Jan. 3, 1999; Museé d'art Contemporain de Bordeaux, Feb. 6-Apr. 25, 1999; Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, June 4-Aug. 30, 1999; and Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Oct. 1, 1999-Jan. 2, 2000.
