Kwangju Biennalle '97: Unmapping the Earth was the second occurrence of the international arts festival held in Korea. MOCA director Richard Koshalek was one of five commissioners that curated differently-themed sections of the exhibition space. With the curatorial assistance of Julie Lazar and technical support of MOCA staff, the works of fifteen international artists and groups representing the "Hybrid" theme were presented.
