Amaterasu by Remy Charlip was an original performance commissioned for MOCA based on a traditional Japanese folk tale. The choreographer was the museum's first artist in residence from Jan. 18-Feb. 21, 1988. Music for the production was composed by Carl Stone and the sets and costumes were designed by Steven Arnold. Drawings by Charlip and Arnold were displayed during the month-long residency. Julie Lazar organized the residency and performances.
