<p>Watts Towers staff will reinvent <em><strong>Trading Dirt</strong></em> (1983) through conversations and socialization. Staff will trade dirt with the following artists and community members: Simon Rodia (through a symbolic exchange utilizing vintage footage); Mr. and Mrs. Pichardo; Augustine Aguirre; Kenzi Shiokava; Varnette Honeywood; and John Outterbridge. Each person will place the exchanged dirt in his or her garden or designated space. Simultaneously, a second bucket will acquire dirt from each community member and the entire mixture will be brought back to WTAC. This event is coordinated with the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.<br />

<p>Avenue 50 Studio will trade dirt with its neighbors, many of whom are recent immigrants from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Puerto Rico. In this reinvention of <strong><em>Trading Dirt</em></strong> (1983), the trading of dirt may also lead to the trading of stories and memories. This event is coordinated with the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.<br />

This event is coordinated with the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.<br />
