Meteorology (1972) will begin at UCSD’s Visual Arts Facility on a rainy day. A group of people will walk towards the ocean carrying a large plastic tarp, collecting rainfall along the way. At the end of the journey, the collected rain will be returned to
the ocean.
*Please note that since this Happening requires rain, dates are approximate. Anyone interested in participating should be ready to do so at short notice within the weeks before or after May 17 and 18.
Meteorology (1972)
At this Happening, which first occurred in the rain in Düsseldorf, Germany, participants walked towards the bay carrying a plastic sheet that protected those beneath it from the rain. Upon arrival, all of the collected water was dumped into the bay and the roles reversed—the dry people carried the plastic sheet and the wet people walked underneath. When they reached the original starting point, the collected water was poured on the ground.
