NO Jello?
only worth it if jello is going to be there
No jello means not worth it? Wrong! it’s well worth it & X will be amazing along with The Avengers & Dead Kennedy’s so be there & enjoy.
Wish I was still in LA for this show, but otherwise I’m glad I ‘m not there. Looking forward to X in SF on Dec. 30!
so lame to be “anti-LA” like you have soooo much credibility if you don’t live in la. it’s an easy, predictable, lame cheap shot.
wow, what profound commentarty – oooh, i’m glad i’m not in la.
well i can say i’m LOOKING FORWARD to not being in LA very soon… the stink of hollywood kind-of just hangs over everything here no matter how many “cool” art shows moca puts on…
They’re liar’s!
Just hit MOCA’s box office and was told tickets can only be purchased online.
How is it the Dead Kennedys w/Jello? Never mind.
Is it still punk rock if all the performers are in there 50s., home owners with kids?
No, like I, they should have move on to western blues.
No, like me, they should have moved on to death and black metal \m/
yes.
Heck Yes!
When did you write the “rules” of punk?
X is still the best band in america!
DK’s are NOT DK’s without Jello.
“Punk” at $50 and $125 for VIP? Is Joey Ramone spinning in his grave? LMAO: make sure they have valet parking and appetizers made out of dead things you couldn’t identify, even when they were living. Another surreal juxtaposition of the hideously commercialized and the formerly hip.
Honestly Mike,
$16.50 per band in 2011 is still pretty punk rock if you think about it.
These guys deserve to earn a living as much as you do. Paying $5-10 to see them in the 80′s was worth it. And that’s when it was easier…for us all!
How dare you mention poseur Ramones in the same sentence as X and DK. I don’t know if you were actually around when punk mattered, but the Ramones were ‘the joke’.
Apparently you were misinformed at the time
X are still fantastic, and The Avengers also are probably not to be missed. Jello was only 1/4 of the DK, so hopefully… But ack! The price! Good cause tho’, enjoy.
Dead Kennedys suck without Jello, everyone know that. X, well, they like the LA house band, you can always see them. The reason you want to go to this thing, of course, is to see the Avengers. They rarely play down here, and when they do, they are just as good as ever. Penelope rocks. Fork over the dough.
You can’t “always” see X – Exene is ailing and it’s just a matter of time before she retires for good.
Jello is the bomb, but Jello wouldn’t be Jello with out the sound! I’m taking my wife to this, finally a place where I can enjoy punk music with out the worry of meat heads!
Yeah, it’s hard for me, too, to ‘stomach’ that kind of $, and like most who have commented: “Without Jello?!” But X will be well worth it (just saw them in San Juan Capistrano last month, and they were BRILLIANT, as always! Albeit The Coach House is a JOKE! Everyone was sitting down! I REALLY wanted to ‘break loose!’:), not to mention Penelope Houston and Greg Ingraham – HEY! They are (as I see it) MORE than half of the AVENGERS! You are right: Penelope does ROCK! So just GO and HAVE FUN! Cheers! -lancelot
All you people balking at a $50 ticket clearly don’t get out much.
Maybe you are still living in the past?
(I wanna puke!)
Well it’s not the Whiskey and it’s not the Masque but the music endures.
I am happy these bands are still together and performing live. What a great idea to have a live show rather than a film or video performance as part of this excellent installation. I am not happy about it, but I admit that I’m in my Geritol stage, and I am glad to be able to see them at a reasonable hour. For those of you b*^ing about the cost read this: If you are a member, it’s only 35.00 a ticket –approximately 12 dollars per band. That’s fantastic. I do hope some of us older punk lovers will bring our kids or older grandkids to enjoy the show. I drag my own kid kicking and screaming to a vareity of museums, concerts, and theater on a regular basis but just the other day he wanted to know if I’d ever been into X back in the day – so I pulled out the records to brag. He didn’t argue when told about coming to this concert. It just goes to show what we already know: These bands are not only historical and seminal, they are still relevant to the next generation. This is going to be a great show. Having seen DKs millions of times back in DC, I will miss Jello. Oh well. It’s still going to be fun, and I can’t wait to see the Avengers.
David Geffen will be filling in for Jello…probably play a few Nirvana tunes as well.
i would like to go but my time machine is on the fritz.
Tyson Kindell (a.k.a) Billy Zoom is worth the price of admission. After leaving X in 1985 and going awol for 20 years he is back in the line up. I doubt one could find another 64 year old in a punk band. Now THATs very punk.
I was just at the gallery and the art is great!! Yay X And Avengers! Boo for the fake Dead Kennedy’s….
It is absolutely NOT DK without Mr.Biafra…. If they did instrumentals, sure…
Be in the moment and enjoy this art with it’s past from this
Perspective. We can’t go back but we can have this good evening.
All these band matter really matter. This is left wing punk Americana
At it’s finest. Don’t have bad trip feelings. Do some
Chanting or dance ritual to get your negativity out.
Then make a fuck authority organic salad and listen
To Please Don’t Go and nurse that shot and gell into
The bitter sweet blues that not everyone is so
Gifted to share
X…..nothing new dks no room for jello.avengers….yes the only reason to take grandkids to see what u “used to be”
how does no one know about the Jello – DK split in the late 90′s?
The band sued Alternative Tentacles, jello is owner and founder, so no jello in DK any more. For 12 years now.

SOOOO super glad all you cheap bastards and biter old a-holes won’t be at the show to bring me down!!!! Just glad I’m still here and the music goes on and on and on……………..
Good comments/discussion… I personally wouldn’t miss this very special show, I mean X and the Avengers??? Too bad no Jello, of course we would want him there. Yes, I remember Baces, I saw the Ramones there, and, NO, they were NOT the joke. Extra added bonus – the Under The Big Black Sun exhibit will stay open for the concert-goers! Awesome! Thank you MOCA!!! And thank you John, Exene, Billy, DJ and Penelope! Where else could this happen besides L.A.?
It was great, and if punk is not about nostalgia then why are all these people complaining about DKs, punk is a dead form of a musical podium enjoy the music and stop acting like your opinions on a dead scene matter
Avengers leveled me. X is a big whoop, if you are an X fan. DKs were fun in their reconstituted lineup. Icee drinks and Hot Sam’s pretzels were notably absent.
